The short version: Cocktail Cabinet has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. Everything about your bar stays on your phone. The only things that ever leave it are feedback you choose to send and photos you choose to scan.
What stays on your phone
Your bottles, kitchen items, ratings, shopping list, country and settings are saved only on your device. They are never sent to us or anyone else. Delete the app and they are gone. If you back up your phone (for example with iCloud), they are part of that backup, under your control.
To suggest your country, the app reads your phone's region setting. That happens on the phone and is not sent anywhere.
When you use Back up my bar, the app makes a small file with your bar, ratings, shopping list and two settings, and hands it to you. Where it goes next (Files, iCloud Drive, Mail, AirDrop) is up to you; we never receive it.
Feedback you send
When you use Send feedback in the app, and only then, we receive:
- the topic and message you wrote,
- your email address, if you chose to give it,
- the app version, your phone's system version (for example iOS 18.2), the recipe you sent it from, and whether you use oz or cl.
The app shows you exactly this before you send it. We use it to read your feedback, fix problems and reply if you asked us to. We don't sell it or share it for marketing.
Feedback travels through our small server on Cloudflare and is delivered to our inbox as an email by Resend. Like any internet service, they handle your IP address to deliver it. Our server keeps it in memory for a few minutes to stop spam and does not store it.
Feedback emails are kept in our inbox for as long as they are useful. Ask us at any time and we'll delete yours.
Bottle scanning
When you use Scan bottles, and only then, the photo you take or pick is shrunk on your phone and sent to our scan server on Cloudflare, which passes it to Anthropic's Claude AI to read the labels. The list of bottles comes back to your phone, and you choose what to add. We don't store the photo; Anthropic handles it under its own privacy policy. Point the camera at your bottles, not at people.
To count your free scans without an account, the app makes up a random ID the first time you scan. It isn't linked to your name, phone number or Apple ID. Our server keeps that ID with a count of scans, and briefly keeps your network address to stop abuse.
Your rights
You can ask what we have about you (at most, feedback you sent), ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Write to hello@cocktailcabinet.cc. If you're in the EU or UK you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Age
Cocktail Cabinet is about alcoholic drinks and is meant for adults of legal drinking age where they live.
Changes
If we add anything else that sends data from the app, this page is updated before that feature is released, and the date at the top changes.
Who we are
Cocktail Cabinet is made by Andreas Unger, Sweden, who is responsible for the data described on this page. Contact: hello@cocktailcabinet.cc
